GALENA, Kan. —
GALENA, Kan. - Catherine Nadine LaTurner, age 90, passed away Sunday Jan. 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following an illness.
Catherine was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Hiwasse, Ark., her parents were George Chauncey and Lucille (Woods) McMillan. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Galena. Her pastimes included cooking, sewing, and reading.
Catherine was married to Paul LaTurner on Oct. 28, 1939, in Galena. He passed away Nov. 10, 2005. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Rhodes, and Norma Lutz; and one brother Bobby Eugene McMillan.
Surviving is one son, Robert P. Bob LaTurner, Galena; one daughter, Judith A. (Jack) Gourley, Galena; six grandchildren, Milissa (Steve) Weidman, Marla Gourley, Eric (Vickiey) LaTurner, Jennifer (Jeremy) LaTurner-Watkins, Blake A (Katherine) Hargis, and Michael LaTurner; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Haley, Hayden, Macie, Makayla, Kaytlayn and Paul; three sisters, Louise Lindsey, Galena, Peggy Caperton, Houston, Texas and Shirley Keyes, Grove Okla.; and one special nephew, Chuck (Nancy) Rhodes, Cabot, Ark.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be at the home of the daughter, Judy Gourley, 1203 Amherst, Galena, Kan.
