NEOSHO, MO —
Floyd Edward Foster, 87, entered into rest on Jan. 22, 2013, at his home following an illness.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1925, in Marionville, Mo., to John Joy and Lucy Odessa (Head) Foster.
Floyd moved to Neosho in 1957, and began his career at Rocketdyne. During that time he worked on the engine that propelled the first astronaut into space. Floyd retired from Teledyne as a Senior Engineer in jet engine overhaul in 1990. During his tenure with Teledyne he was sent to Europe, the Middle East and South America, as a consultant on jet engine programs. He was also a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. At the age of 84, Floyd had the pleasure of accompanying other World War II Army veterans on the 3-Day Honor Tour.
Floyd married Eloise Imogene Jones on Aug. 10, 1950. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Brenda Lea Cummings, Linda Rae Kreger and Carl Leroy Foster; grandchildren, Sara Foster, Zachary Foster, Grace Kreger and Ross Kreger; brother, Bob Foster; and sisters, Adalee Todhunter and Bonnie Foster.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Hillcrest Church of Christ, Neosho, Mo.
Contributions may be made in memory of Floyd to Mercy Hospice or Neosho Christian School in care of Clark Funeral Home P.O. Box 66 Neosho.
Cremation services under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
