Alva May Doucette

JOPLIN, MO —

Alva May Doucette, age 90, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, while at National Health Care in Joplin.

Alva was born May 22, 1922, in Newark, N.J., to the late Howard Alvin Blackwell and Alva May (Mac Iver) Blackwell. She attended school in New Jersey, receiving her diploma.

Alva married William Joseph Doucette on Sept. 20, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio. Being a devoted wife of her military husband she traveled and lived in many states throughout his career, moving to Joplin 2005. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She also enjoyed spending time painting. Alva was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and role model to her family.

Alva is preceded in death by her parents and her spouse, William Joseph Doucette.

Alva is survived by her daughter, Marsha Wolf, of Joplin; son, Chris Doucette and wife, Melinda, of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Howard Blackwell; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Alva has been taken for cremation; the family is planning a private service at a later date.
