JOPLIN, MO —

Mattie L. Kelly, age 80, Joplin, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, following a sudden illness.

She was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Thomas, Okla., to the late Grady and Mabel Clark Beard.

Mattie was an Avon representative for 20 years and enjoyed her customers very much. She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking and sewing. She attended Calvary Baptist Church.

She married John Kelly in 1951, at Columbus, Kan. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary on Jan. 14, 2013

She is survived by her husband, in addition to two daughters, Janice Dockum and husband, Jim, South Carolina, and Patricia Shelton, Arizona; four grandchildren, Heather Bayarena, Brandi Shelton, Wendy Lant-Clark and Joshua Shelton; 12 great-grandchildren, Trey Shelton, Shalomi Shelton, Taya Shelton, Deondre Shelton, Amia Shelton, Kai Shelton, Jaylon Steele, Gabriela Bayarena, Sofia Bayarena, T.J. Clark, Tyler Clark and Rylee Shelton; extended family, Sharon Lalicker and family, Jim Dockum Jr. and family and Debra Fennell and family; two sisters, Juanita Boles and Viola Thomas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anna and Don Broyles; and very close friend, Jerry Dover. She was preceded in death by two brothers; one sister; and her closest friend, Betty Dover.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Philip McClendon officiating. Burial follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
