GRANBY, Mo. —
Ruth Lorraine Barker Major (Gern), 90, of Granby, Mo., left this life on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a short illness.
She was born July 29, 1922, in LaRussell, Mo., to Jack Clark Barker and Nora Maude Owen Barker.
She was a lifelong area resident and married John Perry Major.
Ruth is survived by four children, Perry Eugene Major, Nowata, Okla., Max Thelmer Major, Neosho, Mo., Darrell Wayne Major, Granby, and Marvin Ray Major, Neosho; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Barbara Ann; and two grandsons, Kenny and Jeff Major. She is also survived by her team of girls from Integrity Healthcare which she loved dearly.
Ruth was a member of the Diamond First Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook and had perfected the craft of making apple butter and apple jelly. She loved to crochet, enjoyed the outdoors and her flowerbeds.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
