NEOSHO, Mo. —
Joan Marie Hollin, 82, passed away at 1:35 a.m. on May 9, 2013, at her home in Neosho, Mo.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1930, in Medford, Ore., to William Asher Butler and Ruth Everhart.
Joan grew up in Klamath Falls, Ore. She graduated from Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls. After high school she worked alongside her mother and sister in a family pie business.
Joan married Melvin A. Hollin in 1949, in the state of Washington. They were happily married for 57 years.
Joan bought her first horse in 1941, which led to her lifelong passion for horses.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth; brother, Bill Butler; and husband, Melvin Hollin; and her horse, Rocket.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Hollin, of Neosho; daughter, Patti Yates and husband, David, of Neosho; her dearly loved grandsons, Joshua Yates and his wife, Jillian, of Neosho, Sgt. First Class Jeremiah Yates and his wife, Liz, of Fort Lee, Va., currently serving in Camp Casey, South Korea, Simeon Yates and his wife, Samantha, of Cabot, Ark., Seth Yates, of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Ethan Yates, of Joplin, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Jonathan David, Kaitlyn Elizabeth, Nevaeh Twilight, Havyn James, Elijah Joseph, Silas Patrick, Kari Hollin Davida, Tristan George, Autumn Reneé and Isaac Samuel; and sister, Pat Connell, of Klamath Falls.
A memorial service will be held at Christpoint Church, 2231 Annie Baxter, Joplin, at 5 p.m. May 11. The family will be greeting friends and relatives after the service. Cremains will be interred at the family plot in Silverton, Ore.
