JOPLIN, Mo. —
Elma Leveta Teel, age 83, of Joplin passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the St. Joseph Hospice House in Joplin after an illness.
Elma was born April 24, 1930, in Wyandotte, Okla., to the late Elmer Kellogg and Eliza Leader Kellogg. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a homemaker and loved to fish.
She married Jesse Warren Teel Dec. 7, 1953, in Seneca, Mo. He survives her at the home; additional survivors include, two sons, David Earl Teel, of Martinsburg, W. Va. and Norville Paul Teel and companion Mary Woodhouse, of Golden City, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Patricia Stanley and husband, Randy, of Parkville, Mo. and Kathleen Erin Pinon-Hukreide and husband, Kenney, of Independence, Mo.; three grandsons, B.J. Gilkey and wife, Alma, of Virginia Beach, Va. Alex and Chris Pinon, of Kansas City, Mo.; five granddaughters, Manessa Mercer and husband, Jason, of Albany, Mo., Sarah Gilkey and fiancé, Bobby, of Kansas City, Saline Crouch and husband, Jeremy, of Joplin, Erin Battagler and husband, Travis, of Carl Junction and Kalea Teel, of Golden City, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Thaddeus Gilkey, Taylor, Ethan, Emma, Elliot and Evan Mercer, Luke and Olivia Battagler, Connor and Oliver Crouch; two sisters, Gladys Crowder and June Roberts; one brother, George Kellogg; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Elma will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Joplin, Mo., with Roy Scribner officiating. Burial under the direction of Parker Mortuary will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, with B.J. Gilkey, Alex Pinon, Chris Pinon, Sarah Gilkey, Saline Crouch and Manessa Mercer serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friend from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
