JOPLIN, MO —
Thelma M. (Webb) Farmer age 77, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Freeman Hospital following an illness.
Thelma was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Galena, Kan., to the late Roy and Lela (Armitage) Webb.
Thelma worked for Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island for five years as a reservation manager and then promoted to operations manager. She owned and operated Red Barn Flowers in Joplin and then Thelma's Flowers in Webb City. She then moved the business to Joplin, and renamed it to Thelma's Flowers Tux and Gowns and Thelma's Secret Garden Wedding Chapel. She enjoyed oil painting.
Thelma is survived by one son, Jack Berry and his wife, Lori, of Joplin; one daughter, Lisa Counts, of Carl Junction; five grandchildren, Jason Berry, Joshuah Berry, Sheena Smith, Myan Counts and Joshua Moffett; and 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Webb; and two sisters, Dorothy Mallatt and Darlene Haner.
Because Thelma loved to entertain at her home the family will be holding a memorial service at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at her home at 5723 Impala Drive, Joplin. Carey Haner will be officiating. There will be a pot luck dinner to follow. For directions to the house please call 417-623-3808.
