JOPLIN, Mo. —
Nelda Faye Fraley, age 81, Joplin, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her residence with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.
Nelda was born April 29, 1931, in Guthrie, Okla., to the late Riley Ellison and Minnie Stalcup Ellison.
She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1949. She worked for many years for Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She met the love of her life, Keith Fraley, at a church singles retreat in 1974. They were married on Aug. 23, 1975, and enjoyed 34 years of marriage before Keith passed away in 2009. Together they were owners of Fraley Funeral Supply. She faithfully helped him in the business and together they were an unbeatable team.
Nelda enjoyed many trips overseas with Keith and several other good friends. Her favorite place was Spiez, Switzerland. Together she and Keith took over 12 trips to Switzerland enjoying all of the beautiful country's sights. She was a member for many years of the Gideon's Ladies Auxiliary and a longtime member of Forest Park Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
She leaves behind a daughter, Beth Fraley Zentner and her husband, Eric, Joplin; and her best buddy, Princess, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Forest Park Baptist Church Chapel. Dr. John Swadley will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with Bill Smith, Fred Burke, Chuck Thelen, Frank Shouse, Luke Miller and Dave Ross serving as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nelda's memory to Forest Park Baptist Church or Gideon's International in care of Parker Mortuary.
