JOPLIN, Mo. —

Gilbert R. Millner, age 82, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at his home following an illness.

Gilbert was born on Nov. 23, 1930, in Crestline, Kan., the son of John and Alta (Evans) Millner. He worked for Sperry-Vickers Corporation for many years until the plant closed in 1978.

He married Emma Jean Pursley and she survives.

Additional survivors include one son, David Millner, of Joplin; one daughter, Shelly Ann Davis and her husband, Jon, of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Mary Jane Mashburn, of Quapaw, Okla.; three grandchildren, Veronica, Danielle and Lacey; and one great-grandson, Owen. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, June Drury; and a brother, Stanley Millner.

A memorial visitation has been scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
