JOPLIN, Mo. —
Aretha Eloise Arnce McClung, age 94, of Joplin, passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Foxberry Terrace Assisted Living Center.
Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Prosperity, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William Ervin Arnce and Edith Euraine Shaffer Arnce and had lived in Joplin since 1939. She attended Business College and began her 28 year career with Campbell "66" Express, working in their offices. She was a member of Teamsters Union, Local 823 and Harmony Heights Baptist Church.
Five brothers preceded her in death, Charles Clifford, Lynn Francis, Harvey Estel, James William and Robert Don Arnce; along with a niece, Judy Skrabaneck.
Surviving nieces and nephews are Donald William Arnce, of Neosho, Robert Lloyd Arnce, of Joplin, Charles Arthur Arnce, of Neosho, Dr. Robert D. Arnce, of Carl Junction, Dr. Harvey Bruce Arnce, of Phoenix, Ariz., Jennifer Gaddis, of Carthage, Mo., Linda Sue Stewart, of Kansas City, Betty Ann Gwaltney, of Anchorage, Alaska, Carol Stultz, of Mill Creek, Wash., Glenda Kay Slaughter, of Vanderpool, Texas, and Kathy Johnson, of Bryan, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Arnce, of Kansas City, and Florene Arnce, of Vanderpool.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Burnett officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
