JOPLIN, Mo. —
Richard G. Oliver, age 84, of Joplin passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1928, in Webb City, Mo., to James Everet Oliver and Besse Shirley Potts Oliver. Richard was a United States Navy Veteran and worked in the foundry at Missouri Steel Castings for many years. He was a member of the American Foundrymen's Society and also a proud member of the National Riflemans Association.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman and loved to take hunting and fishing trips with his son Rich.
He is survived by a son, Rich Oliver, of Oronogo; brother, Marvin Oliver, of Menifee, Calif.; nieces, Tammy Custer, of Cherry Valley, Calif., Terri Profeta, of Chula Vista, Calif., Denise Oliver, of San Francisco, Calif.; and a nephew, Rory Oliver, of New Iberia, La.
Richard has been taken for cremation and the family will have private memorial services at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Ducks Unlimited in his memory.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
