JOPLIN, Mo. —
Lowell L. "Skeet" Haflich, age 76, Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, following an illness.
Lowell was born on Sept. 1, 1936, in Topeka, Kan., the son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Wrenn) Haflich. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked for 17 years as a bus driver for the Joplin R-8 School District, retiring in September 2012. He loved the children who rode his school bus they meant the world to him. He also enjoyed gardening.
He married Joy Allen-Newby on August of 1971, in Miami, Okla. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Lawrence L. Haflich and Estella, Joplin, Ron Newby and wife, Sammye, Van Buren, Ark., and Chris Newby and wife, Shelly, Joplin; one daughter, Julie Shelton, Inman, S.C.; one brother, Gary Haflich and wife, Sandy, Meridan, Kan.; two sisters, Nancy Ellen Hillman and Lloyd, Meridan, and Jacquline Haflich, Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bright Futures in care of the mortuary.
