PIERCE CITY, Mo. —
Twilla Leona (Pozniak) Younker, 89, of Pierce City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Twilla was born July 10, 1923, in a farmhouse near Purdy, to Bart and Rosella Pozniak. She was a homemaker for most of her life and she also worked for several years as a cook at Pierce City Elementary School. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield, Mo.
Twilla married Leo F. Younker on April 17, 1948. He preceded her in death in November 1994.
Twilla is survived by two sons, Ron Younker and his wife, Patty, of Lee's Summit, and Dr. Dennis Younker and his wife, Diana, of Joplin; two daughters, Louella and her husband, Dr. Jim McNeill, of Farmington, and Birdie and her husband, Jay Robertson, of Lee's Summit; nine grandchildren, Mitch Younker, of Lee's Summit, Michael Younker, of Kansas City, Russell Younker, of St. Louis, Emily Younker, Meaghan Younker and Evan Younker, all of Joplin, Eric McNeill, of Boston, John McNeill, of Providence, and Keith Robertson, of Kansas City; two great-grandchildren, Colton Younker and Chase Younker, both of Lee's Summit; and one sister, Rosella Renkoski, of Purdy. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Wayne "Chuck" Younker; five sisters, Nettie Feeney, Josephine Ceselski, Clementina Golubski, Sophie Boyce and Agnes Roberts; and three brothers, Virgil Pozniak, NL Pozniak and Earnest Pozniak.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Paul McLonghlin officiating. Burial will be in follow in the church cemetery.
