GRANBY, Mo. —
Lawrence Ernest Martin Sr., 78, Granby, Mo., went to his eternal home in Glory on May 14, 2013.
He was born June 25, 1934, in the Christopher Community of Newton County to Lee and Ethel Martin and graduated from Granby High School in 1953.
Ernie was united in marriage to Starlene Loving on June 5, 1956, and to that union five children were born.
Ernie served 10 years in the Missouri National Guard plus six years in ready stand by. He worked for Linde and Burnidge Oxygen in Kansas City, as a hydrostatic tester for 15 years and retired from Tyson Foods in Neosho after 18 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Starlene, of 56 years, 11 months and nine days; his children, Hannah Moad and husband, Darrell, Springfield, Mo., Mary Ann Enslow and husband, Roger, Neosho, L.E. Martin Jr. and wife, Evelyn, Joplin, Dan Martin and wife, Lori, Neosho, and Rebecca Farris and husband, David, Krum, Texas; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary June Phillips and husband, Jack, Sarcoxie, Mo.; one brother, Bob Martin and wife, Minnie, Granby; two aunts, Irene Martin, Neosho, and Velta Woodward, Nixa, Mo.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ernie "Buddy" Martin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Services will be Thursday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, Garry Willoughby and Pat Ryan officiating. Interment will be in the Granby Memorial Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Trey Enslow, Levi Enslow, Daniel Martin Jr., Zachary Martin, David Farris and Trent Martin. His sons, L. E. Martin Jr. and Dan Martin will lead the pallbearers to the grave site. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
