JOPLIN, Mo. —
Peggy Louise Spencer, age 78, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, after a sudden illness.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1935, in Joplin, Mo., to Clarence Goswick and Susie Wheeler Goswick. Peggy worked on the assembly line for Motorola where she retired from. She loved fishing, boating, working in her yard, spending time with her family, her daily trips to Wal-Mart and going to rummage sales.
Peggy married James Leroy Spencer on Sept. 19, 1952, in Carterville, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Moyer.
Peggy is survived by her son, Don Spencer, of Joplin; daughters, Debbie Stark and husband, Everett, of Joplin, and Diana Tandy and husband, Mike, of Carterville; brother, Richard Goswick, of Siloam Springs, Ark.; niece, Helen Reginer; grandchildren, Tracy McGill, Heather Richardson, Chet Stark, Chris Tandy, Branden Besett and Shane Lasley; and great-grandchildren, Dakota Stewart, Deiondre Stewart, Makala Pippin, Meagan Pippin and Carter Tandy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City, where the family will be present for a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
