SARCOXIE, Mo. —
Mr. Melvin Eugene Aleshire, 82, of Sarcoxie, Mo., departed this life on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Mo., after a brief illness.
Melvin entered this life on April 10, 1930, in Lawrence County, Mo., to the union of the late Clarence and Laura Bell (Robertson) Aleshire. He was a lifelong resident of Sarcoxie.
On April 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Nell (Hatfield) Aleshire, at the home of parents in Sarcoxie, with her father officiating. Together they shared 61 years. He was the owner of Aleshire Auto Body Shop, which he operated for 39 years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army. Melvin was a hard and devoted worker, and loved antique cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joann Heaton.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Nell Aleshire, of the home, where they also resided for 61 years; a brother in law, Jerry Heaton and wife, Carol, of Joplin, Mo.; a sister in law, Helen Lowe, of Sarcoxie; and two nephews, Jimmy Lowe and wife, Mary, of Granby, Mo. and Randy Lowe and wife, Dana, of Seneca, Mo.
Graveside services for Mr. Aleshire are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Rose officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Larry Myers, David Robertson, Robert Massey, Scotty Lambeth, Bruce Lambeth, Jason Chandler, Lyle Thurman and Steven Stewart. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
