JOPLIN, Mo. —
Duane Lee Morris, age 82, Joplin, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his home after a long illness.
Duane was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Lacene, Kan., to the late Clyde Morris and Della Martin Morris and had lived in Joplin for many years.
He worked as the meat department manager for Safeway for over 30 years and the former IGA Grocery Store for 10 years. He was a member of USBW and was a Christian. Duane had a love for all sports. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a race car driver and won several trophies for his efforts. He loved to fish and hunt and has several mounts that he did himself.
Duane married Karen Helmer in 1960, in Miami, Okla. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a daughter, a son, a brother, Paul Morris and his wife, Nadine, Springfield, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
Duane has been taken for cremation. No formal services are planned.
