FAIRLAND, Okla. —
Anna Kathryn "Kate" Gelvin, 85, a longtime Fairland resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at home with her family surrounding her.
Kate was born on Oct. 3, 1927, in Ada, Okla., to Edgar Franklin and Annie Manning (Thompson) Heatley.
She married Odell Gelvin on Feb. 23, 1946, in Tulsa, Okla. They moved to Fairland in 1965. Kate was a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church of Fairland. Kate loved her family and enjoyed sports along with Odell; they rarely missed one of the grandkids' ballgames.
Mrs. Gelvin is preceded in passing by her parents, Edgar and Annie Heatley; her brothers, Paul and Homer Heatley; and a sister, Norma (Heatley) McCarn; and one niece.
Survivors include the love of her life for 67 years, Odell Gelvin, of the home; a son, Ronald E. Gelvin and his wife, Beverly, of Willow Springs, N.C.; and her daughters, Linda G. Wilmoth and her husband, Steve, of Fairland, and Susan D. Spencer and husband, Junior, also of Fairland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michelle Martin, Heather Gelvin, Misty Moncada, Laci Couch, Amber Spencer, Cody Lewis, Juliana Caldwell and Brian Wilmoth; 10 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 9, at their home, 22100 South Highway 125 in Fairland, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The family have asked that memorial contributions be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Fairland or Good Shepherd Hospice in Grove.
Cremation services are in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of Fairland.
