CARTHAGE, Mo. —
Idotha Hope Griffith, 86, passed away March 12, 2013, in Carthage, Mo., after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Idotha was born April 19, 1926, in Miller, Mo., to William and Lora Burlison.
She was united in marriage to Donald Wayne Griffith on Oct. 30, 1944. Don and Idotha later moved to Carthage, due to his employment. Idotha was a homemaker and worked independently for various friends and acquaintances. The Griffith family was very active in Scouts from Cubs through Scouts. Idotha later worked at the First United Methodist Church nursery.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Carthage. Idotha was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she served as the curriculum secretary, taught Sunday school and worked in Vacation Bible School. Idotha loved the Lord and wanted all to know the same.
Idotha was preceded in death by her husband, Donald June 23, 1997; her brother, Pelmer Burlison and two sisters.
She is survived by four sons, Duane and Susan Griffith, of Carthage, Bruce Griffith, of Joplin, Neal Griffith, of Cameron, Mo., and Mark Griffith, of Carterville; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grays Point cemetery.
