WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Elsie R. Jones, age 91, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Webb City Health and Rehab Center following a three week illness.
Elsie was born May 13, 1921, in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. She had lived in the Joplin-Webb City area following her marriage to Earl R. Jones on July 16, 1945, in England, following World War II. Earl preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1990.
Elsie was a member of First Christian Church of Joplin. She had served as a Sunday School teacher, a youth leader and was involved in Christian Women's Fellowship.
Elsie is survived by one son, Michael Jones and wife, Kim, Carl Junction, Mo.; two daughters, Helen Losse and husband, Bill, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Pam Howerton and husband, Jim, Joplin; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Fay Blevins and Rev. Fred Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Memorial contributions are requested to the First Christian Church of Joplin in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary, of Joplin.
