NEOSHO, Mo. —
Stephen H. Penney, 52, Neosho, Mo., entered into rest on April 28, 2013, at his home following an illness.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1960, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Stephen lived most of his life in Arizona, until moving to Neosho in July of 2012. He worked as a fireman deputy chief and a paramedic at the Fire District of Sun City West, Ariz. He was a biblical teacher and student. Stephen loved animals and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed off-roading. He was a mentor to many. He was a Bears fan, loved Batman and played the steel guitar.
Stephen married Deyon Clark Penney on April 16, 1994, in Tolleson, Ariz. She survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Mitchel Penney, of Phoenix, and Kohl Penney, of Neosho, Mo.; godson, Samuel Hartman, of Phoenix; brother, Matthew Penney, of Arizona; and sister, Jackie Lane, of Riverton, Wyo. He also leaves behind his fire family. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Herbert and Irene Penney; and brothers-in-law, Charles Darin Clark and Robert Kent Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Clark Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories Neosho. Interment will be in Gibson Cemetery Neosho. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stephen's memory may be made to the Stephen H. Penney Education Fund for his son's educations.
