EAGLE ROCK, Mo. —
Norma Rae Block, age 81, Eagle Rock, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Maker on May 1, 2013, at her home after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 30, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, and was the only child of Ray and Lavon Cantrell. Norma lived most of her life in Carthage, Mo. Many in Carthage knew Norma Rae from the many years she worked at Cantrell Seed House which was owned by her father (Raymond Cantrell).
On Jan. 1, 1955, she married Teddy Block. They were married for 58 years. He survives. They have three daughters and one son, Cherry Babcock and husband, Joe, of Carthage, Debbie Braeckel and husband, Pete, of Joplin, Harlan Block and wife, Theresa, of Carthage, and Jenny Waters and husband, Don, of Eagle Rock. They also have eight grandchildren, Kyle, Crystal, Josh, Kelly, Casie, Isaac, Hannah and Josiah; and five great-grandchildren, Scotty, Logan, Van, Carter and Ema.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m. at Christ Church of Joplin, 5200 East 32nd, Joplin, Mo.
