JOPLIN, Mo. —
Imogene Runner, age 92, Joplin, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital.
Imogene was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Browning, Mo., to the late Roscoe Powell and Alpha Mundell Powell and had lived in Joplin since 1968. A homemaker, she was a 45 year member of Joplin Heights Baptist Church, where she served as the dinner coordinator for many years.
She married William Dayton Runner, Jr. in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2002.
Imogene was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jay and Clinton Powell; a sister, Wilma Dowdy; and a great-granddaughter, Lindsey Holland.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Karol Holland and husband, Perry Sr., Joplin; two sisters, Nellie Reynolds and Betty Campbell, both of St. Joe, Mo.; three grandchildren, Perry Michael Holland, Jr. and Sherri Woods, both of Whitehall, Ark., Shannon Sawyer, Jefferson, Ark.; six great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are planned for Tuesday at Noon at Joplin Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Brown and Randy Harr will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
