DIAMOND, Mo. —
Mary Joan Heifner, 91, Diamond entered into rest on May 18, 2013, at St. Lukes Nursing Center, Carthage.
She was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Nashville, Mo., to Coy and Elsie (LaRue) Polston.
Mary had spent the last 65 years in the Diamond area and worked for Oxford Health Care for 17 years as a caregiver. She loved gardening, cooking and serving others. She was a member of Diamond Christian Church.
Mary married Don Heifner on Jan. 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2007.
She is also preceded in death by a grandson. She is survived by her children, Bill Heifner and wife, Kathy of Joplin, Mo., Jane Riemersma and husband, Ron, of Holland, Minn., Tim Heifner, of Diamond; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Cole, of Virginia; sister-in-law, Eula (Spencer) Montgomery, of Joplin; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Diamond Christian Church Diamond, Mo., Pastor Mike Whorlow officiating. Interment will be in Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, Mo. Visitation will be held 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, Mo.
