Mary Loraine Jamison

ROCKWALL, Texas — Mary Loraine Hempen Jamison departed this life peacefully at her home in Rockwall, Texas, on May 31, 2013.

Loraine was born Oct. 17, 1915, in St. Louis, Mo., to Mary Elizabeth Wekenborg Hempen and George Herman Hempen. She was raised on a farm in Carlyle, Ill., with her six brothers and one sister, who all preceded her in death.

In 1938, she married Herbert Burr Jamison, now deceased. They moved to Tulsa, Okla. in 1951, and then to Joplin in 1963.

Mrs. Jamison was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Joplin for over 40 years and worked for the Day Care at First Presbyterian Church for over 30 years and retired at 92 years young. In 2012, she moved to Texas with her little Yorkie, Crickett and lived with her daughter, Vicki Miller and son-in-law, Errol in Rockwall.

Loraine is survived by her two daughters, Kathy DeCarlucci and husband, Augie, of Dallas, Texas, and Vicki Miller and husband, Errol, of Rockwall; five grandchildren, Erick Castor, Lori Tarver, Alison DeCarlucci, Jason Castor and Leslie Irvin; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Prayer service is at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Mo., with visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass for Mrs. Jamison will be held on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Joplin, with Father J. Friedel officiating. Burial will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Those honoring her by serving as pallbearers are Erick Castor, Jason Castor, Garret Castor, Jon Castor, Tommy Irvin, Brandon Tarver and Bobby Stevens.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin.
