JOPLIN, Mo. —

Geraldine Mae "Geri" Edwards, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at her home after an illness.

Geri was born June 18, 1939, in Joplin, to the late Carl Wilber Sharp and Clara Kathrine Peuinot Sharp. She had lived in Leavenworth, Kan., Iowa, Webb City and Carterville, before moving to Joplin several years ago.  

Geri worked in home health for Oxford Healthcare and retired after 18 years of service. She had also worked at the former Elders Shirt Factory in Joplin, for several years. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and loved to travel.  

She married Richard T. Edwards on Nov. 3, 1978, in Joplin. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Bill Larson, Tulsa, Okla., and Marvin Larson Jr. and his wife, Peggy, Mustang, Okla.; two daughters, Kristi Wallace and her husband, Kenny, Joplin, and Belinda Booker and her husband, Bob, Joplin; one sister; one stepson, Richard Edwards Jr. and his wife, Theresa, Ohio; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her dog, Hershey; and her cat, Cindy. In addition to her parents, Geri was preceded in death by sons, Ricky Larson and James Larson; one daughter, Brenda Newman; and a half-sister, Linda Rooks.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Chaplain Vicki Smeya will officiate. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Anderson, Jim Furgeson, Mark Gordon Jr., Chad Rose, Josh Larson and Robbie Rose. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Parker Mortuary.
