GALENA, KS — Charles “Chucker” Arthur Martin, age 41, was pronounced dead at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at St John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.

Chucker was born Oct. 9, 1970, in Baxter Springs, Kan. He had lived in Galena most of his life.

He worked as a carpenter. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Galena. He enjoyed writing poetry and reading.

Surviving are his parents, Larry and Letha Martin, Galena; two brothers, Mike (and Traci) Martin, Lubbock, Texas, and Donnie Martin, Galena; his niece and nephews, Seth Martin, Audrey Martin and Jared Martin; and his special friend, Betty Tapia, Galena.

Chucker has been taken for cremation under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
