Alta "Allie" Tennyson

IOLA, Kan. — Alta "Allie" Tennyson, 44, of Iola, Kan., passed away Tuesday at the St. Luke Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m.  Monday, March 10, at the Potts Chapel, Independence, Kan., with Pastor Mike Adam of the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Independence, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Visitation hours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Potts Chapel.

The family had suggested memorials to the St. Jude's Children Hospital and contributions may be left at the Potts chapel.

Alta was born June 1, 1969, in Parsons, Kan., the daughter of Forrest D. Sr. and Orella Lee (Ford) Tennyson. She grew up in Humboldt, and graduated from the Humboldt school system. Alta then attended Pittsburg State University where she received her Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education and minor in Sociology.

Alta worked as an administration specialists at the Freeman Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.

Survivors include her fiance, Gregg Korte, of Iola; one daughter, Stevie Bulger and husband, Jaime, of Webb City, Mo.; two sons, Malchi Schicke, of Joplin, and Dominic Ferguson, of Spring, Texas; three brothers, Forrest Tennyson Jr. and wife, Norene, of Coffeyville, Kan., Marion Tennyson, of Erie, Kan., and David Tennyson, of Independence; two sisters, Barbara Adam and husband, Mike, of Independence, and Cassandra McKellips and husband, Richard, of Manhattan, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Landen Warden and Emmie Bulger.
