GALENA, Kan. —
Carol Ruth Galardo, age 64, passed away at 12:08 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her home following an illness.
Carol was born Feb. 17, 1950, in Joplin, Mo. Her parents were Wesley Charles and Cleo Ruth (Talley) Brown. She was a lifetime resident of Galena.
She became owner of her mother's business in the 1970s and continued to operate Browns Cafe in Galena until the late 1980s. She began working at Celltron, in Galena and continued there over 20 years. She last working in July, 2010.
She attended Camp Joy Ministries, Joplin. She was family oriented and her family was her greatest joy.
She was married to George Edmond Allen Galardo on July 6, 1971, in Miami, Okla. He passed away on July 26, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, Brenda Foreman and Linda Foreman and one brother, Charles Brown.
Surviving is one son, Stephen (wife, Cindy) Galardo, Galena; two daughters, Catherine Burkhart (husband, Winnie) Galena, and Gretchen Robertson (husband, George) Webb City, Mo.; one brother, Calvin Brown, Baxter Springs, Kan.; and two sisters, Donna Vaughan, Galena, and Terry Horton, Rising Star Texas; eight grandchildren, Audrey Fenno, Cody Williams, Jared Carver, Troy Drury, Christopher Drury, Charles Burkhart, Jeffrey Howard, and Danielle O'Banion; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation.
The family will conduct a memorial service at Camp Joy Ministries, Joplin, at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014. Pastor Jeff D. Martin will officiate. Online condolences may be made at www.derfeltfuneral homes.com
