Lela LaRue

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Lela Jane LaRue passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the age of 84, at her home surrounded by family.

Lela was born July 17, 1929, in Webb City, Mo., the 10 of 12 children born to Oren Patrick Hensley and Wynona (Simington) Hensley.

She attended Webb City High School until her Senior year when she moved to California to live with her sister and graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, Calif.

She married when she was 23, and had two children (Rhonda and Paige). Lela was a dedicated stay home mother for 20 years. She started working for Hughes Aircraft at the age of 45. There she met her husband, Donald LaRue. They worked together and lived in Southern California until their retirement in 1988. They moved to Hemet, California after retirement for five years then relocated to Webb City, along her daughters and their families.

Donald LaRue passed Feb, 14, 2009. Lela enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, bird watching, and oil painting.

She is survived by her sisters, Bertie Wahlstrom, of Carl Junction, Mo., Ruthie Hansen, of Hemet, Calif. and Shirley Brown, of Hemet; daughters, Rhonda Preston and her husband, Johnny, of Oronogo, Mo., Paige Pastusak and her husband, Joseph, of Webb City; her grandchildren, Montesa Henri and Stephen Rodriguez, of Long Beach, Calif, Sarah Schooley her husband, Adam, of Lenexa, Kan., Tyler Pastusak and Shannon Neal, of Carl Junction, Mo. and William Wright and his wife, Heather, of Carl Junction; great-grandchildren, Kierstyn Wright, Keoni Baxter, Kourtnee Wright, Kadance Trosper,  Lincoln Schooley, Isaac Wright, and Hudson Schooley; her husband Donald's children, Kevin and Betty LaRue and son Ryan, of West Hartford, Conn. and Mike LaRue, of Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her brothers, Harold, Joseph, Phillip (Stevie), Oren and Daniel; and her sisters, Jessie Lusk, Nelpha (Emogene) and Bonnie.

Visitation will be held at Parker Mortuary at 11 a.m. and graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Preston, Joe Pastusak, Tyler Pastusak, William Wright, Adam Schooley, Keoni Baxter, Dave Davidson and Scott Boudreaux.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Parker Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
