Rev. Joseph A. Dayringer

MIAMI, Okla. — Rev. Joseph A. Dayringer, 99, Miami, Okla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Windridge Health Care, Miami.

Mr. Dayringer was born Mar. 28, 1914, in Barton County, Mo.

He was married to Sarah M. (Ruppert) Dayringer on April 14, 1933, in Carthage, Mo. and they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in April 2006. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School in 1932. He was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard and served with the 203rd Anti -Aircraft Battalion out of Carthage. He received an honorable discharge and was a sergeant at the time.

Joe worked at Hercules Powder Plant in Carthage for 27 years and was employed there when the powder plant blew up in 1966.  He had also been called to the ministry and pastored Baptist churches in Reeds, Warrens Branch, Seneca, Wheaton, Exeter, and LaRussell. The Dayringers lived in Carthage, Seneca, Grove, Cassville, Wheaton, and Shell Knob before retiring to Bolivar, Mo. in 1996.  They were members of First Baptist Church, Bolivar, Mo.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Richard Dayringer and wife, Janet, Grove, Okla., James Dayringer and wife, Shirley, Rogers, Ark. and Joe (Pistol) Dayringer and wife, Paula, Kearney, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Francisco and husband, Doc, Miami, Jane Parsons and husband, Larry, Fair Play, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; mother, Myrtle (Pugh) Dayringer; father, Landon Dayringer; a sister, Florence Dayringer; and two brothers, Daniel and Roy Dayringer.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug.26, at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. Rev. Ben Dobbs and Dr. Gordon Hatcher will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
