WEBB CITY, MO — Mrs. Emma E. Tappana, age 86, went to be with her lord, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 9:55 a.m. Mrs. Tappana was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Baxter County, Ark., to George Williams and Sara Clingerberg Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Central Christian Center in Joplin, for over 33 years. Mrs. Tappana was married Oct. 28, 1940, in Webb City, to Vernon Tappana Sr., who passed away Dec. 20, 2000. Survivors include a son, Larry Tappana and wife, Bev, of Webb City; daughter, Marsha Bauer and husband, Shawn, of Webb City; a brother, Joseph Williams and wife, Dorothy, of Webb City; nine grandchildren, Tammy Linn, Missy Stewart, Mindy Hailey, Tapper Tappana, Larry Tappana, Shelly Faulk, Lacey Tappana, Marti Lopes and Eric Terry; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Tappana Jr.; three brothers; and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Simpson Funeral Home, of Webb City, with Pastor Mark Linn and Dr. Hank Deslatte officiating. The grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Oronogo Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday between 2 and 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
