JOPLIN, Mo. —
Tanya Elaine Spurgeon, 61, passed away Dec. 5, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Mo.
Tanya was born Nov. 15, 1952, in Carthage, Mo., to Wayne Ruark and Lilly Colleen "Aborgast" Ruark, both preceded her in death. She was a lifetime Carthage resident, Tanya was a homemaker and she worked at Schreibers Foods and Fast Trip in Carthage. She was an avid Bingo player.
Tanya married the love of her life Tom Spurgeon Oct. 17, 1968, in Carthage, Mo. He survives.
Tanya is the mother of two daughters, Tarenda Sikes and husband, Jere, of Webb City and Tammy Spurgeon of Joplin; 11 grandchildren, Telicia Spurgeon, Donavon Spurgeon, Tacobi Bruce, Cameron Fraser, Jagger Fraser, Tarin Bruce, Neikko Spurgeon, Jasmine Sikes, Sebastian Sikes, Trevyn Spurgeon, Trentleigh Lewellen; two great-grandchildren; six brothers, Dennis Ruark and wife, Mary Jane, of Joplin, Gary Ruark and wife, Debbie, of Carthage, Bart Wilson and wife, Judi of Avilla, Kevin Ruark, of Carthage, Darroll Ruark, of Carthage and George Ray Ruark, of Diamond; and one sister, Cindy Mitchell and husband, Claude, of Avilla.
Tanya is preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, Tristan Bruce, Garrett Dietz and Xander Sikes; one nephew, Denny Ruark Jr.; and one sister, Theresa Ruark.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday Dec. 9, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be taken for cremation after the visitation and a Memorial service will be held at a later date.
