JOPLIN, Mo. —
Joyce Irene Wasson, age 92, Joplin, passed away at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her home after an illness.
Joyce was born Nov. 1, 1920 in Kirksville, Mo., to the late Gustav Robert Tibben and Mildred Holliday Tibben and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
She worked alongside of her husband, H. Waldo Wasson, in his audiology clinic for several years. Following his death, she served as the president of the area Hearing and Speech Clinic until 2006.
Joyce was a 50-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Joplin Historical Society; the Joplin Humane Society and South Joplin Christian Church. She also volunteered at A.R.M.
Joyce married H. Waldo Wasson on Dec. 3, 1938 in Kirksville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1994.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Dr. Hany and Donna Mikhail have been taking care of her since Dr. Wasson's death in 1994. Great thanks are extended to Dee Beeching, Stacey, Barbara and Vallerie for taking good care of her around the clock for the past 12 years.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Jill Cameron-Michel, Minister, will officiate.
