Donald L. Brashear

PINEVILLE, Mo. — Donald "Don" Layne Brashear, 80 years, of Pineville, Mo., was called to heaven on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2013, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Don was born on Sept. 15, 1932, in Pineville, to the late Andrew and Faye (Burr) Brashear. His formative years were spent in Argentine, Kan., moving back to Pineville and joining the Army for two years, where he served in the Korean War.

He met the love of his life, Carla Smith and they joined in marriage on May 24, 1957,  at her parent's home in Pineville. Don was a graduate from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. He worked several years as a United States postal clerk for the Anderson Post Office. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle. Don was a loyal, long suffering Kansas City Royals Baseball fan. He cherished time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren play ball. Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Andene P. Moss; and brother, Maurice Lee Brashear.

Don is survived by his loving wife, of 56 years, Carla Lee Brashear, of the home; three children, Walter Andrew Brashear and wife, Terri, of Jay, Okla., Kimberly Dawn DesAutels and husband, Marc, of Gilbertsville, Penn., Kelly Walters and husband, Shane, of Pineville; nine grandchildren, April Layne Brashear, Dustin Andrew Brashear, Hayley Melee Lucas, Kelsie Cheyan Martinez, Ceara Lehn Martinez, Jordan Anthony DesAutels, Zachery Thomas DesAutels, Seth Aaron Walters and Layne Emily Bequette; four great- grandchildren, Landyn, Mikaela, Ripley and Jaxon; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Don.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home, the family will receive friends at this time.

Memorial contributions may be given in loving memory of Don to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
