JOPLIN, Mo. —
Earl Leroy Wilson, age 68, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at his home.
Earl was born Oct. 11, 1944, in Sperry, Okla., son of the late Earl Winfield Wilson and Hazel Gaynor Wilson. He graduated from Skiatook High School in Skiatook, Okla. Earl went to trade school in Tulsa, Okla., learning trades in welding and construction. At a young age, Earl was confirmed and baptized at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Independence, Kan. Later in life he became an Ordained Minister, helping out many ministries in the Joplin area.
Survivors include a son, Gabriel Pattillo Wilson, of Boulder, Colo.; five daughters; sisters, Jeri Helton, of Owasso, Okla., Mary Planchart, of Raleigh, N.C., Shirley Moon, of Plano, Texas, Rosie Nelson, of Inola, Okla., and Pam Childers, of Inola; also 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, Sept. 14, at Impact Life Church in Joplin, at 11 a.m. Private family burial of ashes will be held at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery in Independence, Kan., at a later time.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
