JOPLIN, MO —

Moses Martinous, 94, Joplin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, after a short illness.

Moses was born Aug. 5, 1918, to Farris and Stenna Coury Martinous in Pittsburg, Kan.

He was the owner of Martinous Fruit and Vegetables. His business slogan was "Moses Knows where the finest grows". He retired in 1985, but he did not ever quit being involved with the produce business. He marched seven miles with the Joplin High School Band, during the Rose Bowl Parade at the age of 83. Moses was a man of faith and a member of the Tri-M Sunday School Class, at the First United Methodist Church.

Moses married Kathleen Kathy Morris on June 9, 1957, she survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Raymond Martinous, Pittsburg, and Richard Martinous and wife, Robin, Joplin; one daughter, Diane Martinous, North Hollywood, Calif.; one brother, Raymond Martinous, Pittsburg; one sister, Freda Wilson, Pittsburg; and two grandchildren, Moses and Shannon Martinous. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bruce Jacobs and Assistant Minister Louise Reed officiating.

The family request in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the charity of choice.
