THORNTON, Colo. —
Jewell Francis (Evans) Millard, 86, of Thornton, Colo., passed from this life on May 12, 2013.
Jewell was born in Joplin, Mo., on May 10, 1927. Jewell was the fifth of 13 children of Eddie Earl and Eliza Ann (Berry) Evans. When she was 6 months old, her parents moved out to the Reinmiller Community where she grew up on the family farm.
She went to school in a one-room school house through the eighth grade and graduated from Duenweg High School. She attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.
She married the late Ora Lee Millard on July 3, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. They had eight children. Ora Lee and Jewell moved to Colorado in 1960.
She is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Vivian Cole, Judy Stirewalt, Harold and Ronnie (Mick) Evans. Seven of her children survive, Carole Millard, of Grand Junction, Colo., Barbara Hellberg, of Denver, Colo., Lester Millard, of Baxter Springs, Kan., Susan Millard, of Vancouver, Wash., Alan Douglas Millard, of Thornton, Helen Millard, of Grand Junction, and Lee Millard, of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Jack, Dudley, Glen, Jerry and Carl; and two sisters, Thelma Dotson and Sally Epperson. Her daughter, Geraldine Gilmore, also precedes her in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family are requesting that donations be made in her memory to The Denver Hospice.
