William Alva Dubois

NEOSHO, Mo. — William Alva Dubois, age 80, Neosho, Mo. passed away on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital, after a short illness, with his family by his side.

Son of the late Sherwin and Opal Dubois, Bill was born on Aug. 11, 1932, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Bill graduated from the Cornell High School and previously attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa. Bill was a Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the United Methodist Church. After 37 years of service with the USDA Govt, Bill retired in 2010. Previous to his service with the USDA, Bill was also in the Postal service.

Bill married Bjorg Marit (Selfors) in 1956 in Jackson, Minn. Unto this marriage three children were born, Katherine Denise, Neosho,  Scott Alan (deceased in 1988), Marc Owen, Albuquerque, Minn. and in 2008, Bill and Bjorg adopted their great-granddaughter. The challenge and devotion to their new daughter was without a doubt, a wonderful undertaking that changed their lives for the best, Kayla certainly became the apple of Bills eye!  

Bills interest and love was his family, he loved all sports, a keen eye on politics, so devoted as a husband, father grandparent and great-grandparent.

Bill achieved so many goals he set forth on himself, Bill seriously undertook the challenge of building his Arabian horse bloodlines in the show ring to promote and produce an amazing success of endless trophies, ribbons and Legion of Merit award with his stallion Auric*, with the US and Canada. Later his focus extended to the promotion of his Gelveih cows and striving on new blood-lines in the US and Canada.

Bill took joy in his family survivors include his wife, Bjorg; daughters, Kathy and Kayla; son, Marc, grandson, Brett and family, Jessica, Graham, and Deakon; brothers, Kenneth, John, Gordon and their extended families.

 Private memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Rev. Dr. Sara Chaney officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from5 to 6 p.m.
