CARTHAGE, MO —
Steven Matthew Smith, age 23, of Carthage, Mo., passed away at 7:41 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at his home.
Steven was born March 6, 1989, in Joplin, Mo., and had lived in the Carthage area most of his life. He was a 2008 graduate of Carthage High School and was a four year member of the Cross Country Team. Steven loved the outdoors, fishing, playing classical music on the piano and working on small engines. He was employed with Schreiber Foods, of Carthage.
Steven is survived by his parents, Matthew and Stacy Smith, Carthage, two brothers, Jonas and Silas Smith and two sisters, Mandolin and Lily Smith, all of the home; his paternal grandparents, Ed and Glenda Smith, Duenweg, Mo.; his maternal grandmother, Neia Talley; his maternal grandfather, Paul Talley; and his maternal great-grandmother, Vivian Parks, all of Carthage; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins that loved Steven very much.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Carthage High School Cross Country Team in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary, of Joplin.
