JOPLIN, Mo. —

Deborah (Debbie) Jo Ann Burns Fitzgerald, 59, a resident, of Joplin, passed away at her home Thursday, May 17th at 8 p.m. after a short battle with lung cancer.

Debbie was born Apr. 25, 1953, in Webb City, Mo., to Patricia Patt M. Clevenger and Norman T. Dobie Burns. She was loved by all and had many, many friends, her BEST friend being her mother, Patt. Debbie and her Mom could always be found at Bordertown in Seneca playing Bingo, which was their favorite past time.

Debbie has one child Patty Hall that she loved beyond measure.

She met the love of her life, Jim Fitzgerald in Oct., of 1979, and they were married in Miami, Okla., on Apr. 25, 1980. They were on one continuous date the rest of her life.

She and Jim owned and operated Casino Coaches and Heartland Charters for 22 years and then she went on to work at her sister, Renees store, Connies Antiques where she was very loved and adored by all. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Clevenger,  of Joplin; her husband Jim Fitzgerald, of Joplin; Patty Hall and her husband Will, of Joplin; 2 sisters, Teena Hval and husband Todd, of Milwaukie, Ore., Renee Beale and her husband Mark, of Joplin; her brother Shane Burns and his wife Cindy, of Carl Junction; three grandchildren: Kyle Daggett and his wife Danielle, of Joplin, Nathan Tuggle and Dylan Hall, of Joplin; two great-grandchildren Ava Dagget and Mya Daggett; three nieces, Missy Johnson and Amy Hval, both, of Milwaukie, Ore., Amber Cupp, of Bethel, Mo.; four nephews, Chris Fitzgerald, of Kansas City, Mo., Blake Fitzgerald, of Webb City, Josh Anderson, of Miami Okla., and Dylan Burns, of Carl Junction; three great nephews Trace Fitzgerald, of Carl Junction, Cameron Johnson, of Milwaukie Ore., and Xander Cupp, of Bethel Mo.; one great niece, Mykinna Cupp, of Bethel, Mo.; and longtime family friend Sindy Andrews.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Joseph and Juanita Stevenson; her father, Norman T. Burns; her Dad, Edward Gene Clevenger; and an infant sister, Patty Jo Ann Burns.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Parker Chapel. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 2to 3 p.m. Sunday.
