JOPLIN, Mo. —  John Michael Lukey, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, after a sudden illness.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 16, 1950, moving with his family to San Bernardino, Calif., in 1951.  He graduated from Pacific High School in 1968.

He worked in his familys transmission shop there, and also worked for Goodyear Tire there.

He sold copiers along the beach at Malibu for a time, and opened his own Transmission Shop. He sold the business to move to Missouri, coming here in 1977.  He worked at Tri-State Transmission before going to work for Office Concepts.  He worked the Springfield office, and went in partnership with Don Hall in a Computer Store called Computers R Us.

In 1987 he met and married the love of his life, Karla Keeney Lukey. In 1990 he opened a computer store in Joplin known as Wholesale Computers & More. He also built and flew several Ultra-light Planes.

John was preceded in death by his father, E.B. "Bud" Lukey;  his mother, Ruth Lukey; and a sister, Nancy Lukey.

John was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle where he was active in all areas of the churchs ministry, and served from early 1972 to the present. He was also the leader of the Wednesday Prayer Service at Faith Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife, Karla; a daughter, Renee Wind, of Key Largo, Fla.; sister, Sharon Richards, of Joplin; brothers, Bob Lukey and wife, Millie, of Long Beach, Calif., and Paul Lukey and wife, D.J., of Joplin; nieces and nephews, James Richards and wife, Tami, of Joplin, Ruth Bolton and husband, Charles, of Joplin, Paul Luke, Jr. and wife, Monica, of Helendale, Calif., David Lukey, of Calif., Pamela Washington, of Joplin, Deana Fanning and husband, Shaun, of Joplin, Michelle Lukey Tierney and husband, Stephen, of Orange, Calif., Melinda Lukey Lankford and husband, Chris, of Long Beach, Rob Lukey and wife, Breanne, of Ontario, Calif.; and several great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Faith Tabernacle. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
