GALENA, KS —
Robert J. Brewer, 68, of Galena, Kan., passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home with his family at his side.
Bob was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Galena, to the union of Emery and Elizabeth (Appold) Brewer. He graduated in 1962 from Galena High School.
He was united in marriage to Marlene (Ashbrook) Brewer on Feb. 15, 1964, at St. Louis, Mo.
Bob worked as a pipe fitter for the Plumber's Pipe Fitting Union No. 178, of Springfield, Mo. He also owned and operated Double B Plumbing which was located in Galena, and serviced the surrounding area. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriner, both out of Springfield, Mo. He was a member of the Galena Elk's Lodge and Spring River Boat and Ski Club. Some of Bob's favorite past times were hunting, fishing and wood carving.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Brewer, of the home; one son, Bob Brewer and wife, Jonna, of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Teresa Freeman and husband, Scott, of Galena; two brothers, Chris Brewer, of Green Valley, Ariz., and Alan Brewer, of Sheldon, Wash.; two grandchildren, Logan Brewer and Landon Brewer; one step granddaughter, Angel Cochran; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Galena Assembly of God Church. Pastors Hank Deslatte, Doug Wilkerson and Randy DePriest will officiate. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Pallbearers for the service are Scott Freeman, Chris Brewer Jr., Michael Brewer, John Kerpler, Connie Kinnear and Marvin Chastain. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Brewer and Charlie Torres.

John Thomas "Tom" Periman, a life-long resident of Carthage, Mo., passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, at his home.
Ted B. Evans Sr.
Ted made his last road trip from Carthage on March 7, 2014 to a heavenly home, where he will meet many friends and family. He will be there waiting for us all. Ted was born on September 15, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri. Ted was the son of Ramon A. Evans and Dorothy Elizabeth (Beatty) Evans. Ted attended grade school in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, moving to Carthage with his parents in May 1947. He attended 8th grade at Hawthorne School and graduated from Carthage High School in 1952. Ted was the director of the CHS Band and Pep Band. He graduated in 1956 from Westminster College, Fulton, Mo, with a Liberal Art Degree, where Ted formed and directed the band. He also received a music scholarship to Tulsa University. Ted joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity and attended Sigma Chi leadership school in 1954 at Hanover College, Indiana.
