JOPLIN, Mo. —
William Edward "Bill" Johnson, age 74, Joplin, passed away at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital.
Bill was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Joplin to the late Floyd Johnson and Ruth DePreist Johnson and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
Bill worked at Bagcraft, Inc. for many years, retiring in the mid 90s. He then worked five years and H & H Machine. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He married the former Dixie Lawson on July 15, 1983, in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a stepson, David McBee and his wife, Michelle, Webb City; a daughter, Michelle Davis and her fiancé, Larry Humble, Joplin; one sister, Pat Stehl, Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Justin McBee and his wife, Angela, Landon McBee, Ryan McBee, Abby McBee, Katelyn Davis; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Malachi McBee; and nieces and nephews, Judy and Doug Krtek, Doug and Cindy Stehl, Jill and Mike Watson and Judy and Tom Kloeppel.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his step mother, Marion Johnson.
A memorial visitation is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
