Robert Edward Harrison died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 20l2, in Leawood, Kan., due to complications from open-heart surgery.

Bob was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Joplin, Mo., the son of Daniel Grover Harrison and Jessie May Phillips Harrison. He participated in the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Bob left Macy's to co-found Roberts Interiors, an interior design firm. After a successful career, he moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., to pursue his passion for landscape gardening. In retirement, Bob returned to Kansas City to be near his family and friends. He served his community through Meals on Wheels and volunteering as a bookbinder at the Johnson  County Library. Bob was a true son of the Midwest, a man of integrity and humanity. He loved his family, his friends and his native Joplin.

Two sisters predeceased Bob, Joan Harrison Jones Bowen and Betty Lou Harrison Thomas.

Bob leaves his adopted sister, Virginia Rose Farley McLeod and three generations of nieces and nephews.
