Maxine Bailey

QUAPAW, OK — Eva Maxine Bailey, age 76, 1651 South 690 Road, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at her home following an illness. Maxine was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Galena, Kan. Her parents were Jay and Laura (Robinson) Smith. She had lived in the area all of her life. She worked over 30 at St John¹s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., as a radiology transporter. She retired in November 2009. She was a member of Tennessee Prairie Friends Church, Galena. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. They had visited the Bahamas twice, the Caribbean Islands four times and Hawaii in addition to touring the western United States. She was married to Joe A. Bailey on June 10, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark. He survives. Also surviving are three sons, Dave Bailey, Tulsa, Okla., Joe L Bailey, Quapaw, and Rick Bailey, Rockwall, Texas; one brother, George Smith, Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Vera Jane Dawson, Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Maxine desire was to be cremated under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at Tennessee Prairie Friends Church, Galena.
