Sandra K. Howard

CARTHAGE, MO —

Sandra K. Howard, 69, of Carthage, Mo., passed away at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at her home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.

Sandra was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Miami, Okla. She was the daughter of Corbin S. Newman and Leona M. (Albro) Newman. Sandra had been a lifetime resident of Carthage. Sandra owned and operated Sandra's Beauty Shop. She then worked for Shirley Davis Beauty Shop and Royal Clippers before retiring. Sandra was a former member of First Assembly of God/Grace Pointe Assembly of God Church.  

Sandra was united in marriage to Robert Wayne Howard on July 26, 1962, in Miami. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2003.

Survivors include one son, Cecil Howard and wife, Kendall, of Carthage; three daughters, Kathy Harris and husband, Mike, of Carthage, Gail Hamilton and husband, Jeff, of Lamar, and Regina Taylor and husband, Louis, of  Reeds; six grandchildren, Emily Harris, Denise, Amber and Megan Taylor, Justin Howard and Kaitlin Hamilton; six brothers and sisters, Corbin Newman, of Bartlesville, Okla., Walter Newman, of Miami, Okla., Peggy Miller, Bartlesville, Tish  Vanderham, Miami, Leila Rakes, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Richie Newman, of Broken Arrow, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Fullerton Cemetery, south of Carthage.
