Jan Alea Lyttle Winder

MIAMI, Okla. — Jan Alea Lyttle Winder was born Aug. 1, 1955, in Miami, Okla., to Robert and Shirley (Neely) Lyttle, of Joplin.

She went home to be with the Lord, Dec. 30, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, after a year- long battle with cancer. She lived with her family for six years in Fairland, Okla. The family moved to Carthage in Feb. of 1962, where she graduated from Carthage High School in 1973. She attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin for two years, also Hays, Kansas Junior College for one year.

She was united in marriage to Bruce Winder on May 29, 1978, at the First Christian in Carthage. She lived in Hays for four years, moving back to Carthage in 1982. She then entered a two year nursing program at Northeastern A. & M. in Miami, Okla., graduating as an RN in 1985. She worked at Freeman Hospital in Joplin in the Heart Center for 27 years. She spent her life helping many, many families.

She is survived by two daughters, Krisda Joy and Jalea Alynne; and one son, Bruce Daniel, all of Joplin; her parents, Robert and Shirley Lyttle, Joplin; two sisters, Jo Ann Draper, of West Des Moines, Iowa and Debra Alane Pope, of Kremmling, Colo.; one brother, Robert Aaron Lyttle, of Carthage; 10 grandchildren, Bronson, Payton, Khailyn, Seth, Darian, Alayna, Tyler, Kennedy, Colton and Jayme.

Jan had several very close friends among the nurses and doctors of the Freeman Hospital Staff.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
