JOPLIN, MO — Alice M. Markle, age 87, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at her home.

Alice was born April 29, 1925, in El Dorado, Kan. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Hartgrove) Keplar.  

Alice worked as an LPN for the last 35 years most recently at Freeman Hospital and Miami Baptist. She was a member of House of Prayer.  

Alice married John Coots in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Jay C. Markle in 1978, in Grove, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Coots and wife, Ellen, Sequin, Texas, and Jimmy Coots and wife, Vicki, Carl Junction, Mo.; one daughter, Rebecca Haskel and her husband, Rocky, Corpus Christie, Texas; one brother, Harry Keplar and wife, Velma, El Dorado, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Foster; four brothers; and two sisters.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Visitation will follow the service.

Contributions may be given to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of the Mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory, of Joplin.
